We’re delighted to share that Bradley Demolition has won the Innovation Award at the Morgan Sindall Construction North East & Cumbria Supply Chain Awards 2026.
Our management team joined Morgan Sindall Construction at Wylam Brewery’s Palace of Arts in Newcastle for an evening celebrating the brilliant work carried out by its subcontractors, consultants and project teams over the past 12 months.
We were incredibly proud to receive the award in recognition of an innovative process improvement developed during our recent work at Appleby Grammar School.
A Smarter Approach at Appleby Grammar School
The award recognised a new approach taken by the Bradley team during the demolition works at Appleby Grammar School.
After reviewing the planned work, the team spotted an opportunity to remove the need for part of the soft-strip process. Materials could instead be sorted by machine, providing a safer and more efficient way of completing this element of the project.
This was the first time the approach had been used on a Morgan Sindall Construction project in the North East, delivering clear benefits for both efficiency and health and safety on site.
Finding Better Ways to Work
Every demolition project brings its own set of challenges, and we’re always looking for practical ways to overcome them.
Rather than simply sticking with an established method, our team considered how this part of the work could be completed more effectively while maintaining the high standards of safety, quality and delivery expected on every Bradley project.
The solution at Appleby Grammar School is a great example of what practical innovation can look like. It wasn’t about making things more complicated – it was about finding a smarter and safer way to get the job done.
The new approach helped streamline the work and reduce the need for manual activity, with the safety of everyone on site remaining the main priority throughout.
A Win for the Whole Bradley Team
Receiving the Innovation Award is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved in the project.
It reflects the experience, forward thinking and problem-solving skills of our site and management teams, along with the hard work that takes place across Bradley every day.
